LA City Council to Consider Ban on Elephant Handling Tools

June 4, 2012

A committee of the LA city council is considering a report recommending a ban of the elephant guide (or bull hook) which is the tool that is essential to the management of performing elephants in circuses  or film or TV. Copy of the report is attached. It is on the agenda for tomorrow at the Personnel and Animal Welfare committee.

Please call and e-mail the City Council and ask them to reject the recommendations made in this report or, at the very least, delay consideration until they have had the opportunity to hear from organizations affected by the recommendations.  Please act today!!!
The Committee is chaired by Councilmember Paul Koretz.
