Action Alert – Pittsburgh Ordinance to Ban Performances of any Wild or Exotic Animal Introduced

From Ringling Brothers:

Yesterday, Pittsburgh City Council Chairman Bruce Kraus introduced an ordinance that would ban performances by any wild and exotic animals (including lions, tigers, camels and kangaroos). The Consol Energy Center arena in Pittsburgh is host to Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey, as well as the annual Shrine Circus. There is an article about the ordinance in today’s Pittsburgh Post-Gazette:

The City Council may act very quickly on this measure.

This alert, as well as the text of the proposed ordinance, is posted on the CFA/OABA grassroots website at www.grassroots.circusfan.org. Feel free to forward this information to your contacts and other performing animal supporters so we can generate as many letters and emails of opposition as possible. In addition, if there is anyone in the Pittsburgh area who might be available to speak to the City Council if a hearing is scheduled, please let me know.

If there are any problems with the Council emails listed on the alert, you can also reach each Council member via the City of Pittsburgh website athttp://pittsburghpa.gov/council/ Click on the “Feedback” section for each Council member to submit your comments.
